It’s some 32 years since Fred Wilkinson and co (aka Toxik Ephex) last released an album so it’s my very great pleasure to dip in to the brand new record ‘Immune To The Media’ released last week courtesy of Mad Butcher Records. Since last we joined our cohorts there’s been a band reshuffle. Joining the band are Snaba, Ross and Elias. Original frontman Gary Dawson aka Wee Eck and bassist Mikey (Gloo Pimp) have also lent their talents to the affair. Sadly we had to say goodbye to former frontman Dod Copland last year who passed away at the age of 59. So how have the passing years affected the band? I’m glad to report that they’ve lost none of their verve. Politically astute. Singalongs aplenty with a Celtic flavour. Smash the system with a smile on your face. They even put a new twist on ‘Take Your Share’. And who can resist skanking ode ‘Goolies’? All in all a fantastic return.
