SMIERC are back with their second album which is out now on Nikt Nic Nie Wie. I reviewed the first one here and was amazed by the whole concept for the band. If you don’t know what SMIERC are – they are a band from Stockholm, Sweden paying tribute to Polish punk by singing in Polish and inserting lines from more or less famous Polish punk and beyond acts. This time Ninka, the vocalist, refers to Polish writer Gombrowicz and (punk) rock bands such as KSU, Kult or Maanam.
Musically, the band haven’t moved far from what they play on their debut. It’s a fairly melodic d-beat punk, pretty lightweight and definitely very danceable. Artwork wise it also bears similarities to the first record. Nice one SMIERC, wondering what you will delve into on your third album.
